I recently met an interesting fellow at a pictionary party and was invited to join a group of talented UofA students in designing what I can only say is the coolest Disney ride I have yet to experience. I'm not sure to what extent I'm at liberty to commit thoughts to paper, so to speak, or to divulge the specifics of this project, as it is part of a fairly prominent
competition, but I'd like to begin sharing some of the visual ideas that I'm sure will dominate my mind for the next month.
These two pages from my sketchbook are the tip of the iceberg. A very large, Titanic sinking one at that. Expect more, often!
Dr. Merriweather is pretty excellent. I'm now trying to picture him as the entirety of the ride. He could be the basic structure of a rollercoaster, where the track goes around his head, curls down and off his eyebrows, then onto his glasses. I'd continue with the details, but I think you get the idea.
ReplyDeleteHey Lane, its Jeff. Just thought I'd let you know that we sucessfully found your blog and love the sketches so far!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I can see him as a ride as well, Cozi!! Hope all is well with you, friend!
ReplyDeleteJeff: Glad you found the addy!
This might give you some ideas. Steampunk is a genre/art/style that I happen to be interested in. http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,4001.0.html If you'd like, I can recommend books and what not as well. Yer sketches had a certain style that reminded me of it. <3
ReplyDeleteInspiration, inspiration, inspiration!
